The Archive
The SoundArk is a growing global archive of ambient acoustic recordings — sounds that capture the essence of a location. Not speech, not music, but the acoustic signature of a space: the resonance of a cathedral nave, the texture of a forest floor, the rhythm of a coastal shore.
Each recording is precisely geolocated, time-stamped and catalogued. Together they form a living document of the world’s sonic environments — many of which are changing, or may be lost.
